Renal Fibrosis
Renal fibrosis is the process where healthy kidney tissue is replaced by scar tissue due to ongoing damage or injury. This scarring impairs the kidneys' ability to filter waste and excess fluids from the blood effectively. Over time, persistent fibrosis can lead to chronic kidney disease or failure. It often results from conditions like high blood pressure, diabetes, or inflammation, causing the kidneys to become stiff and less functional as scar tissue accumulates. Preventing or slowing fibrosis is crucial to maintaining kidney health and preserving their vital filtering functions.
