René Cassin

René Cassin was a French jurist and human rights expert who co-founded the European Convention on Human Rights. He played a key role in drafting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights after World War II, emphasizing the importance of protecting individual freedoms and equality. In recognition of his efforts, the Nobel Peace Prize was awarded jointly to the Declaration’s authors in 1966. Today, the International Criminal Court's human rights award is named the "René Cassin Award" to honor his legacy in advancing justice, dignity, and human rights worldwide.
