RELAX Trial

The RELAX trial was a large study that tested whether a specific drug, called sildenafil (commonly known as Viagra), could help people with a condition called pulmonary hypertension—a type of high blood pressure that affects the lungs and heart. The study aimed to see if sildenafil could improve exercise capacity and quality of life in these patients. Results showed that, while sildenafil was safe, it didn't significantly improve exercise ability or symptoms compared to a placebo. The trial provided important insights into treating pulmonary hypertension, but it concluded that sildenafil isn't necessarily effective for this specific group of patients.
