relations between time intervals

Time intervals are periods during which events occur or durations pass. When comparing two intervals, they can be related in several ways: one can be entirely before or after the other (disjoint), they can overlap partially, or one can contain the other fully. For example, if interval A is from 1-3 PM and interval B from 2-4 PM, they overlap between 2-3 PM. Understanding these relations helps clarify how events relate over time, such as scheduling or analyzing sequences, by clearly indicating whether events happen consecutively, concurrently, or separately.
