Reinforcing steel

Reinforcing steel, commonly called rebar, is a steel bar or mesh placed inside concrete to improve its strength and durability. Concrete is very strong in compression but weak in tension, so rebar helps it resist pulling and bending forces. It is usually made of strong, flexible steel and is embedded during construction to hold concrete structures like buildings, bridges, and roads together. By combining concrete's compression strength with rebar’s tensile strength, reinforced concrete can support heavy loads and withstand stresses over time.
