Regional Internet Registry (RIR)

A Regional Internet Registry (RIR) is an organization responsible for managing and distributing large blocks of IP addresses within a specific geographical region. These addresses are essential for devices and networks to communicate on the Internet. RIRs ensure fair allocation, maintain databases of assigned addresses, and support the development of policies for their use. There are five global RIRs, each serving different parts of the world, helping to organize and conserve the limited supply of IP addresses and facilitate a stable, efficient internet infrastructure.
