Region Growing
Region Growing is an image analysis technique used to identify and segment specific areas within an image. It starts with a chosen initial point or small region that meets certain criteria, such as color or brightness. From there, the algorithm examines neighboring pixels and adds those that are similar to the region, gradually expanding the area. This process continues until no more neighboring pixels meet the criteria. It’s like gradually filling in a connected area based on specific characteristics, helping to isolate and analyze parts of the image for tasks such as medical imaging, object recognition, or scene understanding.
