Refund of duties
A refund of duties occurs when a business or individual has paid customs taxes on imported goods but is later eligible to reclaim part or all of those taxes. This can happen if the goods are exported, destroyed, or qualify for certain exemptions or reductions. Essentially, it's a repayment from the customs authority for taxes paid unnecessarily or incorrectly, helping ensure that duties are fairly applied based on the actual use or movement of the goods. It safeguards against overpayment and promotes fair trade practices across borders.
