Reference Group

A reference group is a social group that individuals use as a standard for evaluating themselves and their behavior. It influences their opinions, choices, and attitudes, even if they are not members of that group. For example, someone may aspire to a certain profession because it’s valued by their reference group or adopt certain fashion styles they see admired within that group. These groups help shape our sense of identity and social norms, acting as a point of comparison or inspiration in our personal and social development.
