Red Tails

"Red Tails" is a term that originally referred to the distinctive red markings on the tail fins of the P-51 Mustangs, fighter planes used by the Tuskegee Airmen during World War II. The Tuskegee Airmen were the first African American military aviators in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Their skill and bravery challenged racial segregation and prejudice, helping to pave the way for integrated armed forces. In addition to the aircraft's appearance, "Red Tails" has become a symbol of their courage, excellence in combat, and pivotal role in American military and civil rights history.
