Red Ensign
The Red Ensign is a red flag featuring the Union Jack in the top corner, used as the civil ensign by the United Kingdom and some of its territories and colonies. It signifies maritime nationality, indicating a vessel is registered under the UK or its jurisdictions. Historically, it has been a symbol of British maritime identity and sailing heritage. Today, while primarily a British flag, it’s also used by several Commonwealth nations, often displayed on merchant ships and vessels to show their national registration and adherence to British maritime traditions.
