Recrystallization

Recrystallization is a process used to purify solid compounds. It involves dissolving the impure material in a suitable hot solvent, where impurities remain dissolved or separate out. Then, as the solution cools, the pure crystals form and settle out, leaving impurities behind in the liquid. This technique relies on the fact that different substances have different solubilities, allowing the desired compound to be separated and collected in a cleaner form. Recrystallization is a common method in chemistry for obtaining high-purity solids from mixtures.
