Recovery Point Objectives
Recovery Point Objective (RPO) is the maximum acceptable amount of data loss measured in time for an organization after a disruption or disaster. It determines how often data backups should be taken to ensure that, if a failure occurs, the organization can restore data without losing more than the specified amount of recent information. For example, if the RPO is 4 hours, backups are performed at least every 4 hours. This helps organizations balance data protection with backup costs and operational needs, ensuring they can recover critical information efficiently after an incident.
