Recovery Capital Theory

Recovery Capital Theory explains the various personal, social, and community resources that support an individual's journey to overcome addiction and achieve sustained recovery. It encompasses elements like personal resilience and skills (called "personal capital"), supportive relationships and networks ("social capital"), and access to community services and environments ("community capital"). The theory suggests that strengthening these resources helps individuals build a strong foundation for lasting recovery. Essentially, recovery is viewed as a resource-building process, where increased recovery capital improves the likelihood of maintaining sobriety and well-being over time.
