Receiver Operating Characteristic

A Receiver Operating Characteristic (ROC) curve is a tool used to evaluate the performance of a diagnostic test or classification model. It plots the true positive rate (sensitivity) against the false positive rate (1-specificity) at various threshold settings. Essentially, it shows how well the model can distinguish between positive and negative cases across different criteria. The closer the curve follows the top-left corner of the graph, the better the model's accuracy. The area under the ROC curve (AUC) quantifies overall performance; a higher AUC indicates a more effective test or model.
