Rebar

Rebar, short for reinforcing bar, is a steel rod used in construction to strengthen concrete. Concrete is strong in compression but weak in tension, so rebar is embedded within it to improve its ability to withstand stretching and bending forces. Typically made of steel because of its strength and ductility, rebar is arranged in grids or patterns inside concrete structures like slabs, walls, and foundations. This combination of concrete’s compressive strength and rebar’s tensile strength creates a durable, resilient building material suitable for various structural needs.
