Raziya Sultana

Raziya Sultana was the first female ruler of Delhi in India, reigning from 1236 to 1240. She was the daughter of Sultan Iltutmish and became the regent after her father's death, ultimately declaring herself Sultan. Her leadership challenged gender norms of the time, and she worked to strengthen the Sultanate's administration and military. Despite facing opposition, her reign is remembered as a significant moment in Indian history for breaking gender barriers in leadership and demonstrating strong governance.
