Ravenstein's laws

Ravenstein's laws describe patterns of migration. He observed that most people move shorter distances rather than long ones, and often migrate from rural areas to cities. Younger adults are more likely to move for work or education, while older people tend to stay put. Migration usually happens in steps, with migrants moving to nearby places before reaching their final destination. People tend to migrate because of economic opportunities, family reasons, or to escape hardships. These patterns help us understand how populations change and cities grow over time.
