Rationals
Rationals are numbers that can be expressed as a fraction, where both the numerator (top number) and denominator (bottom number) are integers (whole numbers), and the denominator is not zero. Examples include 1/2, -3/4, and 7 (which can be written as 7/1). They include finite decimals like 0.75 and repeating decimals like 0.333…, but do not include irrational numbers such as √2 or π, which cannot be exactly written as fractions. Rationals form a fundamental set in mathematics, representing everything that can be precisely expressed as a ratio of two integers.
