raster images

A raster image is made up of a grid of tiny colored squares called pixels. Each pixel has its own color and brightness, and when combined, they form a complete picture. This is how digital photos and many graphics are stored and displayed on screens. Raster images are resolution-dependent, meaning that if you enlarge them too much, they can become blurry or pixelated because you’re stretching the individual pixels. Common formats include JPEG, PNG, and GIF. They are ideal for detailed images like photographs but are less suitable for images that need to be resized frequently without losing quality.
