Rashid al-Din was a prominent Persian historian, statesman, and physician of the 14th century. He served as a vizier (high-ranking advisor) to the Mongol Ilkhanate rulers in Persia. He is best known for his influential work, the "Jami' al-tawarikh" (Compendium of Chronicles), which is one of the earliest comprehensive histories covering world history, including Asia, Europe, and Persia.
