Rani of Jhansi Regiment
The Rani of Jhansi Regiment was an all-women military unit established by the Indian National Army during India's fight for independence from British rule in the 1940s. Named after Rani Laxmi Bai, a legendary queen and warrior, the regiment aimed to inspire women's participation in national liberation efforts. Its members trained in combat and paramilitary skills, symbolizing strength and patriotism. Although it was primarily a symbolic force and not engaged in full-scale warfare, the regiment represented gender equality and the ongoing struggle for India's independence.
