Rangefinder
A rangefinder is a device used to measure the distance to an object accurately. It works by emitting a signal—such as light, laser, or sound—and calculating the time it takes for the signal to reflect back from the target. This information allows the device to determine how far away the object is. Rangefinders are commonly used in photography to set focus, in golf to measure shot distance, and in surveying or military applications for precise distance measurements. They enhance accuracy and efficiency by providing quick, reliable distance readings without needing to physically move closer or estimate manually.
