Randomized Clinical Trials
Randomized Clinical Trials (RCTs) are scientific studies used to evaluate the effectiveness of new medical treatments or interventions. Participants are randomly assigned to different groups—typically a treatment group and a control group—so that biases are minimized. This randomization helps ensure that differences in outcomes are due to the treatment itself, not other factors. Researchers then compare results between groups to determine if the new treatment is safe and more effective than existing options or a placebo. RCTs are considered the gold standard for establishing evidence-based medical practices.
