Rammohun Roy
Rammohun Roy was a prominent Indian thinker and reformer in the 19th century who advocated for social change and Western education. He challenged traditional customs such as sati (widow burning) and promoted ideas of rationality, human rights, and religious tolerance. Recognizing the importance of modern ideas, he worked to unify different religious communities and encouraged the study of science and Western philosophy. Often called the "Father of Indian Renaissance," his efforts helped lay the groundwork for social reform and modern thinking in India, blending Indian traditions with progressive ideas to improve social justice and education.
