Ramjet engine
A ramjet engine is a type of jet propulsion system that works by compressing incoming air using its high speed, then mixing it with fuel to ignite and produce thrust. It has no moving parts like turbines or compressors; instead, it relies on the vehicle’s forward motion to generate compression. As the air is forced into the engine’s combustion chamber, fuel is added and burned, creating hot gases that expand and exit through a nozzle, pushing the aircraft forward. Ramjets are most efficient at high speeds and are used in missiles and experimental aircraft for their simplicity and high-speed capabilities.
