Ramiro II of Aragon
Ramiro II of Aragon, also known as Ramiro II the Monk, was a king who reigned from 1134 to 1137. He was notable for his role during the Reconquista, the period when Christian kingdoms sought to reclaim territory from Muslim rule in the Iberian Peninsula. Before his kingship, Ramiro was a monk, which influenced his leadership style. His reign was marked by challenges, including conflicts with neighboring kingdoms, and he ultimately abdicated in favor of his cousin, who became King Alfonso I. Despite his short reign, Ramiro II is remembered for his commitment to the Christian cause in medieval Spain.
