
Rama I
Rama I, also known as King Rama I or King Buddha Yodfa Chulaloke, was the founder of the Chakri Dynasty and the first monarch of Thailand (then called Siam). He reigned from 1782 to 1809 and is credited with unifying and consolidating the nation after a period of turmoil. Rama I established Bangkok as the capital, restored stability, and promoted cultural and artistic development, including the founding of the Thai national identity. His leadership laid the groundwork for the modern Thai state, and he is remembered as a key figure in shaping Thailand’s history.
