Ram Dass (Richard Alpert)

Ram Dass, born Richard Alpert in 1931, was an American psychologist and spiritual teacher known for his work in the exploration of consciousness and spirituality. He is best recognized for his book "Be Here Now," which emphasizes mindfulness and living in the present. After studying with Indian guru Neem Karoli Baba, Alpert adopted the name Ram Dass and became a prominent figure in the counterculture movement, blending Eastern spirituality with Western psychology.
