RAM (computer memory)

RAM (Random Access Memory) is a type of temporary storage that your computer uses to hold data it needs quickly right now. Think of it as your workspace, where active tasks and open applications reside for fast access. When you open a program or file, it's loaded into RAM so the computer can process it efficiently. Once you turn off the computer, anything in RAM is erased. In essence, RAM helps your computer run smoothly and quickly by providing immediate access to active data, but it doesn't store information permanently.
