Railtrack (UK)
Railtrack was a UK company responsible for maintaining and managing the railway infrastructure, including tracks, signals, and stations, from 1994 until 2002. It was created through privatization to improve efficiency but faced criticism for safety issues and financial difficulties. After a major accident at Potters Bar in 2002, Railtrack was placed into administration, and its infrastructure assets were transferred to a new company, Network Rail, which now oversees railway maintenance and operations in the UK. Railtrack's period highlighted challenges in privatization and infrastructure management within the rail industry.
