A railgun is a device that uses electromagnetic forces to launch a projectile at high velocity. It consists of two parallel conductive rails connected to a power source. When electricity flows through the rails and into a projectile placed between them, it creates a strong magnetic field. This magnetic field generates a force (Lorentz force) that propels the projectile along the rails at very high speeds without traditional explosive propellants.
