railgun

A railgun is a device that uses electromagnetic forces to launch a projectile at high velocity. It consists of two parallel conductive rails connected to a power source. When electricity flows through the rails and into a projectile placed between them, it creates a strong magnetic field. This magnetic field generates a force (Lorentz force) that propels the projectile along the rails at very high speeds without traditional explosive propellants. Railguns are being researched for their potential in military applications due to their ability to deliver long-range, high-speed projectiles with precise control.
