Radiographic Contrast-Induced Nephropathy

Radiographic Contrast-Induced Nephropathy (CIN) refers to kidney damage that can occur after a patient receives a special dye, or contrast agent, during an imaging test like a CT scan or an angiogram. This dye helps to make structures in the body more visible on the images. In some individuals, particularly those with pre-existing kidney issues or other risk factors, the dye can lead to a temporary decrease in kidney function. Symptoms may not always be noticeable, but in severe cases, it can lead to complications that require medical attention. Monitoring kidney function after such tests is important.
