Radio-frequency identification

Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is a technology that uses radio waves to identify and track objects or people automatically. An RFID system consists of a tag with a tiny chip and antenna attached to an item, and a reader that sends out radio signals. When the tag is within range, it responds by sending back stored information, such as an ID number. This process allows for quick, contactless identification without the need for manual scanning or line-of-sight. RFID is commonly used in inventory management, access control, and supply chain tracking to improve efficiency and accuracy.
