Radicava
Radicava (edaravone) is a medication used to treat amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurological disorder that damages nerve cells controlling muscle movement. It works by reducing oxidative stress, which helps protect nerve cells from damage caused by harmful molecules called free radicals. While it doesn't cure ALS or stop its progression, Radicava may slow the decline of physical functions in some patients. It’s given through intravenous infusion and is typically used alongside other treatments. Its goal is to help improve quality of life and potentially extend survival in individuals with ALS.
