RADICALS trial

The RADICALS trial was a large research study comparing two approaches for treating prostate cancer after surgery: immediate radiation therapy (called adjuvant) versus waiting and giving radiation only if the cancer shows signs of returning (called salvage). The goal was to see which approach results in better cancer control and quality of life. The study found that waiting to give radiation until needed did not compromise cancer outcomes and may help avoid unnecessary side effects in some men. This research helps guide personalized treatment decisions, balancing the benefits and risks of additional therapy after surgery.
