Radiation Therapies

Radiation therapy uses focused high-energy rays, like X-rays or protons, to target and destroy cancer cells. It works by damaging the DNA of these cells, preventing them from dividing and growing. The treatment can be delivered externally with a machine (external beam radiation) or internally by placing radioactive material inside the body (brachytherapy). While it’s designed to minimize damage to surrounding healthy tissue, some side effects can occur. Radiation therapy is a common and effective option for cancer treatment, often used alone or alongside surgery and chemotherapy to improve outcomes.
