Radial Artery Catheterization
Radial artery catheterization is a medical procedure in which a small, thin tube called a catheter is inserted into the radial artery, located in the wrist, to monitor blood pressure directly or draw blood samples. It provides continuous, accurate blood pressure readings and allows for quick blood sampling, especially in critical care or surgery. The procedure is performed using local anesthesia to numb the area, and a small puncture is made with a needle, through which the catheter is inserted and secured. It’s a commonly used, minimally invasive technique essential for managing critically ill patients.
