Radcliffe College (Harvard University)

Radcliffe College was a women's liberal arts college established in 1890 as an affiliate of Harvard University. It aimed to provide women with higher education opportunities equivalent to those offered to men at Harvard. While Radcliffe operated as an independent institution for many years, it effectively served as Harvard's women's college, offering degree programs and fostering academic community. In 1999, Radcliffe formally merged with Harvard University, and its functions and resources were integrated into Harvard’s campus, ending Radcliffe as a separate entity. Today, Radcliffe’s legacy continues through Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, which promotes interdisciplinary research and supports scholarship.
