Queen Teuta
Queen Teuta was an ancient ruler of the Illyrians, a group in the western Balkans, during the 3rd century BCE. She became queen after her husband’s death and led her people, especially during conflicts with Rome and Greek city-states. Known for her leadership and resistance, she attempted to defend her territory from growing external threats. Her reign ended when Rome forced her to submit, establishing dominance over Illyrian lands. Teuta is remembered as a strong female leader who played a significant role in regional politics during her time.
