
Queen Seondeok
Queen Seondeok was the first female ruler of the ancient Korean kingdom of Silla, reigning from 632 to 647 AD. She was known for her intelligence, diplomatic skill, and support for arts and Buddhism, which helped strengthen her kingdom. Despite challenges from rivals, she promoted scientific advancements, including the construction of observatories, and stabilised Silla’s government. Her leadership paved the way for Silla’s golden age and demonstrated the importance of capable governance and cultural growth. Queen Seondeok remains a symbol of strong, female leadership in Korean history.
