Queen Isabella of Cyprus
Queen Isabella of Cyprus was a 15th-century monarch who ruled the Principality of Cyprus from 1458 to 1474. As the daughter of King John II of Cyprus and Helena Palaiologina, she inherited the throne amidst political conflicts. Her reign was marked by efforts to strengthen the kingdom’s stability and security amidst regional tensions, including threats from neighboring states and the Ottoman Empire. Isabella’s leadership helped maintain Cypriot independence for a time, but her tenure faced challenges from internal rivalries and external pressures. She remains a significant historical figure for her role as a female ruler in medieval Cyprus.
