Queen Elizabeth (the Queen Mother)

Queen Elizabeth, known as the Queen Mother, was the wife of King George VI and the mother of Queen Elizabeth II. Born Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon in 1900, she became queen consort in 1936 and was widely respected for her dedication and public service through difficult times, including World War II. After her husband's death in 1952, she was affectionately called the Queen Mother to distinguish her from her daughter. She remained a prominent figure in British life until her death in 2002 at the age of 101, admired for her grace, resilience, and commitment to public service.
