Quartering Act

The Quartering Act was a law passed by the British Parliament in 1765 requiring American colonists to house and supply British soldiers stationed in their colonies. Colonists were obliged to provide them with rooms, food, and essentials, often in their own homes, without compensation. This law was part of British efforts to maintain control over the colonies and protect their interests, but it caused unrest among colonists who felt their rights and property were being infringed upon. The act contributed to tensions that eventually led to the American Revolution.
