QuantiFERON test

The QuantiFERON test is a blood test used to detect if someone has been exposed to tuberculosis (TB), a bacterial infection. It measures how the person's immune system responds to specific TB proteins. If the immune cells react strongly, it suggests a TB infection is present. This test is more accurate than skin tests and requires only a blood sample, making it quicker and more convenient. It helps doctors diagnose latent (inactive) or active TB infections to determine appropriate treatment.
