QuantiFERON

QuantiFERON is a blood test used to detect if someone has been infected with the bacteria that causes tuberculosis (TB). It works by measuring how the immune system responds to these bacteria's specific proteins. When blood is drawn, it’s mixed with substances that trigger immune cells if TB infection is present. If these cells react, the test indicates a possible TB infection. QuantiFERON is more specific than traditional skin tests, can be completed with a single visit, and provides results within 24 hours, helping healthcare providers diagnose TB efficiently.
