Quality Payment Program (QPP)

The Quality Payment Program (QPP) is a healthcare initiative by Medicare to encourage providers to deliver high-quality, efficient care. It offers two main ways for clinicians to participate: the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), which rewards improved performance on quality measures, and Advanced Alternative Payment Models (APMs), which focus on value-based care through innovative payment arrangements. The goal is to improve patient outcomes, reduce unnecessary costs, and promote evidence-based practices. Providers who successfully participate can earn incentive payments or avoid penalties, aligning financial incentives with better healthcare delivery.
