Quakers (Penn)
The Quakers, or the Religious Society of Friends, is a Christian movement founded in the 17th century. They emphasize inner faith, direct experience of God, and equality among all people. Quakers are known for their simple lifestyles, pacifism, and commitment to social justice. When William Penn established Pennsylvania in 1681, he promoted religious tolerance, including giving the Quakers a place to practice freely. This altruistic environment helped Quakers grow and influence ideas of freedom, human rights, and community service in America.
