Quadruplex

A quadruplex is a four-stranded structure formed by DNA sequences that contain specific repeating patterns, allowing the strands to fold and pair in a unique way. These structures can occur naturally in the genome and are stabilized by specialized interactions called Hoogsteen hydrogen bonds. Quadruplexes are believed to play roles in regulating gene expression, maintaining genome stability, and influencing biological processes. They are of interest in research for their potential implications in cancer, aging, and neurological diseases, and may serve as targets for therapeutic drugs.
