Qorikancha (Coricancha)
Qorikancha, also known as Coricancha, was the most important temple of the Inca Empire, located in Cusco, Peru. Its name means "Golden Temple" in Quechua, reflecting its historical association with wealth and reverence. Built with precise stonework, it was dedicated to Inti, the sun god. The temple was originally covered in gold, which worshipers believed embodied the life force of the sun. After the Spanish conquest, much of the original structure was destroyed or repurposed, and it now forms the foundation of the Convent of Santo Domingo. Qorikancha remains a symbol of Inca architecture and spiritual significance.
